We believe that all women should be able to freely access tampons, sanitary towels and other period products

purplebox with textWomen for Independence has been campaigning hard on the issue of period poverty. Research done by WFI showed that 1 in 5 Scottish women have had to do without sanitary products because of finances.  11% of those experience a significant health impact because of this, such as a urinary tract infection or thrush.

We believe that no woman should have to risk her health because other things have to take priority over getting safe access to sanitary products.

Women for Independence Midlothian is partnering with Midlothian libraries to give women access to products who need them, and provide a place where women can show solidarity with their sisters by donating products.
